Selection procedure
Example of a typical selection procedure at the IMPRS-LSHO
Applications are collected in December and are then reviewed by the research groups at the MPI EVA and LU from late December until March. Based on the applicants' academic qualification and grades, previous fieldwork and/or laboratory experience, motivation and based on the letters of recommendation a pre-selection of especially suitable candidates is made. These candidates are typically invited to Leipzig for an interview in April/May. Alternatively, interviews may take place remotely.
During the interviews in Leipzig applicants give a talk on a previous research project (e.g. the topic of their Master's thesis), meet with researchers and PhD students of the group they applied with to discuss the candidates' previous training and research experience, to evaluate their future plans and learn more about the respective group's ongoing research projects. Following the interviews the final candidates will be selected. Results - positive or negative - are announced.
Travel and accommodation expenses are typically covered by the Leipzig School of Human Origins.
